Equipment
Pari Proneb Ultra - Compressor for nebulized medications such as Pulmozyme, Tobi, and Albuterol. We use this machine with Pari LC-Plus and LC- Star Nebs.
ThAIRapy Vest - We own two different models. The original Vest, which Jacob received when they first came out, and the new model which we just received for Derek. They both do the same work of Chest Physio Therapy. The High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation helps them to clear secretions from their lungs.
Water Pik with Grosson Adapter - Used to clean out the sinuses. We use saline in the machine, and the adapter softens the stream of water going into the nose.
Rinoflow - Another method to clean out the sinuses. Saline is nebulized through a special cup which is held against the nostril. It is gentler than the Water Pik; the nebulized particles can penetrate further into the sinuses.
Suction machine with bulb adapter - After flushing with the Rinoflow or Water Pik, we use this to help suck the loosened secretions from the sinuses.
Ross Quantum Feeding Pump - The most recent addition to our home. Jacob had Mic-Key button put in, so that we can provide for his nutritional needs at night. We connect him at bedtime and he gets between 1/2 and 2/3 of his caloric needs for the day.
IV Pump - Delivers medications through PICC line or Port-a-Cath, so that we can do IV antibiotics at home. We have not used the pump in a while, see next item.
Medicine Ball - A nifty new item. IV medicines are pre-filled into an elastomeric ball that has IV tubing attached. There is a filter on the tubing that restricts the flow of medicine to a specific rate. The pharmacist is able to select which flow rate is appropriate, and fill the medicine ball accordingly. That way they can determine if IV will take 1 hour or 8 hours. Benefit to us, no machine beeping at us, and the ball is portable. We can start the IV and then continue on with our day.
